Some crafts to do for Easter fun. Hope you will enjoy them.

Bunnies in the Grass

  • Crayons
  • Glue
  • Pom-poms or cotton balls

Colour a white sheet of paper all green (scribbling is just perfect) that have them glue on 10-15 1/2" pom poms or pieces of cotton balls - you now have "Baby Bunnies Hiding in the Grass!!"

Bunny Basket
  • 2 Litre Bottle
  • Felt
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Glue
  • Pom-pom or cotton ball

Take a clear 2 litre pop bottle take off the bottom support if there is one. Cut the bottle in half so you remove the opening. Next cut down on the bottle till there is about 3-4" left which will be the body. Move left or right about 4-5" and cut down the same distance. Remove this section that is loose. Go to the opposite side and diagonally cut two pointed ears (don't cut them off). Cut out pink felt and glue on to the plastic ears. Glue on eyes (wiggle or paper), pink triangle felt nose (or paper) with little strips of white paper to resemble whiskers. Don't forget the cotton ball or white pompom for the tail! Fill with Easter grass.

Bunny Baskets

  • Empty Clean Milk Carton
  • Construction Paper
  • Glue
  • Crayons or Markers

Bottom 1/3 of a milk carton. Staple a 1" strip across the top for a handle. Cut out bunny shapes; sitting up bunny - ears on top, round head and fat body. Make sure it is the width of the milk carton (a bit like the traditional cat drawing). Decorate the basket with paper chips (small pieces of paper cut or torn) and draw on bunny's face. You can also paint the basket with glue and dip it into a container of confetti. Glue on a cotton ball on the opposite side of basket for bunny's tail.

Colour Eggs
  • Colour Eggs
  • Tissue/Crepe Paper

Wet the egg and place pieces of colour tissue paper on it. Set it aside to dry. When the egg dries the tissue paper falls off and the colours stay behind

Cottony lambs
  • Black construction Paper
  • Cotton Balls
  • White Chalk

Have the child trace their hands on the black paper. Cut these out, placing the "hands" upside down so that the four fingers are the legs and the thumb is the head. Have the kids glue cotton balls to the "body". Use chalk or construction paper or whatever to make the eyes.

Easter Bonnets
  • Paper plate
  • Styrofoam plates
  • Glue
  • Crayons or Markers
  • Misc. Supplies

Make Easter bonnets from Styrofoam soup bowls stapled to paper plates that have the centre cut out of them. Let the children decorate them as desired. Supply them with cut out flowers, ribbon, and anything else you like

Easter Eggs

We found the perfect use for punch pieces in your Easter celebration! It stems from a Latin tradition. Brightly died eggs remain a traditional Easter element in many countries but they do not figure prominently into the celebration of Pascua (Easter) - Mexico's most important religious holidays. They do however, have a form of Easter eggs - Cascarones. These are a popular feature of Carnaval (Mardi Gras) are used in many other Mexican festivities including birthdays.

Cascarones are empty egg shells that have been washed out, painted on the exterior, filled with confetti and closed again with a small square of tissue paper pasted over the opening. Some people even put small toys and candies in them - making them not unlike tiny pinatas. Enjoyed by children and adolescents as well as adults. In earlier versions of Cascarones - the eggs were filled with perfumed colour water and sealed with a plug of wax.

Below you will find directions and illustrations on how to make these fun little Easter extras. And don't worry, not only are eggshells and fine paper pieces safe for your pets, they are also good for your lawn! (You will still want to keep them away from children under 2 years - and you will want to make sure they don't get mixed up with your BOILED eggs!)

Step one:
Hollow out your egg. Make a small hole in your egg, about the size of a dime. Empty out contents (use it in your favourite recipe - or freeze it. Eggs can be frozen for use in baking later). Make a pin sized hole in the opposite end of the egg and carefully blow out remainder of contents. Set aside and let dry for at least 24 hours. Do not put back in fridge!

Step two
Punch out mini punch pieces (or you may purchase them online - Triple S Ranch has special packages of hearts, circles, suns and teddies in Easter Colours available for purchase).

Step three
Colour your eggshells. This should be done carefully, to avoid breaking the shells. Use water colours or food colours and paint it on with a wide washing brush. Let dry. Your eggs should dry within a few hours. While you are waiting cut/punch medium circles that match the colours of your eggs - use xyron backing for ease of application. You may also use tissue squares in the same colour (tissue will break more easily).

Step four

Fill your eggs 1/4 to 1/2 full with confetti/ punch pieces. We recommend 1/4 full). You may include small candies or toys, at your discression. Put your xyron backed circle or tissue square to cover dime sized hole - matching colour with egg colour.

You are now ready to play with your eggs!

How to Make Your Own Easter Egg Dye

Mix 1/2 cup boiling water, 30 to 40 drops of food colouring, and 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. Let the dye cool completely before dipping eggs.
HINT: You can use crayons to write and draw lines or stripes on the eggs before dipping.

To Make Your Own Stands for Colour Easter Eggs

Cut strips of construction paper, staple each one into a circle, and set the egg on top.

Another Trick for Colouring Eggs Use candles to drip wax onto your eggs. After the wax cools and hardens, dip the egg into the dye. Take out the egg and let it drain completely. Then peel off the wax and dip the egg into a different colour.
HINT: Use the lighter colours first.

Filter Paper Eggs
  • Coffee Filters
  • Food Colouring
  • Eye Droppers and Straws

Pre-cut egg shapes out of coffee filters. Mix water and yellow food colouring and place mixture in a baby food jar. Do the same for blue. Let the children use eyedroppers or straws to drip colours on the filter shape. The colours will run together and make beautiful eggs.

Rabbit Head Bands
  • Construction Paper
  • Glue

Cut out a strap long enough to fit around child's head. Cut rabbit ears, using white and pink construction paper. Glue or staple onto the strap, and make it into a head band.

Lambs
  • White Paper
  • Black Paint
  • Glue
  • Packing Popcorn, etc.

Use black paint on the hands and stamp them on a white piece of paper, then decorate. The lambs look cute with packing popcorn" or white paper reinforcements make great "wool". Also, left-over batting or stuffing can be used.
